A brazen gang broke into a Kericho church in Chepkurbet village within Ainamoi sub-county and made away with kitchen utensils and a Bible.
The burglary at Africa Gospel Church (AGC) happened at around 9pm on Tuesday night.
Confirming the incident to KNA, Ainamoi sub-county police commander, Samson Gathuku said a report was made by a pastor from the church adding that police had visited the scene and launched investigations.
He said the gang stormed into the compound and broke down the church office door, stealing a sufuria, cartons containing glasses and a New Testament Bible before driving off with their loot using a Toyota Probox vehicle whose reflective plates had been removed.
“The gang whose number we are yet to establish broke into the church office and stole one sufuria, cartons of glasses all valued at Shs 7,000 and a New Testament Bible. They drove off with the stolen items in a white Toyota Probox motor vehicle which at the time had no number plates,” said Gathuku.
The same gang of thieves proceeded to break into a shop in the neighbourhood within the church compound stealing items of unknown value added the sub-county police commander.
Gathuku said the matter was being investigated.
