Tharaka Nithi to get industrial park

Tharaka Nithi residents have a reason to smile after the county government signed a memorandum of partnership with Chuka University to start a long-awaited industrial park.

Addressing the media before signing of the memorandum, the area governor Muthomi Njuki said both the County Government and the University are only custodians of land that belongs to the public.

“We are here to witness the collaboration between the University and the citizens to bring value addition to the land set aside for the industrial park development for the benefit of the two parties,” said the governor

Njuki said that the memorandum is all about complimenting one another for mutual benefit and not competition as some people may wrongly understand the industrial park development.

Speaking after the signing of the Memorandum, Chuka University Council chairperson Professor David Serrem said the University will be a major beneficiary in that it will use the park for it’s research projects.

“As the council we are very happy to witness this important occasion because any institution that carries out its activities without collaboration is bound to fail,” said Professor Serrem.

Present to witness the signing of the Memorandum was the Chuka University Vice Chancellor Professor Henry Mutembei M’Ikiugu and the Tharaka Nithi Deputy Governor Nyaga Muisraeli.
