Tharaka Nithi residents celebrate Kindiki’s nomination

Residents of Tharaka Nithi county burst into jubilation last Friday as news of the nomination of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki as the new Deputy President trickled in across the country.

The jubilant residents some who broke into songs and chants expressed their delight as one of their very own was set to take take up prominent position never before held by any member of the community since Kenya became a republic.

The streets were alive with cheers and heartfelt gratitude as Karen Kendi, a local trader could not hide her excitement, noting the significance of the nomination for the community saying “this is a moment of pride for all of us,” she said. “Kindiki’s nomination is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our people.”

Justar Mukami echoed these sentiments, highlighting the collective happiness of the community. “We are all so happy,” she said. “This is a victory for every resident of Tharaka Nithi.”

Derrick Murimi, another resident, emphasized the importance of the parliamentary and senate processes in this nomination. “The courts should consider the due process of the parliament and senate and give Kindiki a chance to serve the people,” he stated.

Even the market women, who play a vital role in the local economy left their wares unattended to join in the celebrations. One such vendor expressed her gratitude to the president for considering their community. “We thank the president for recognizing us and giving Kindiki this opportunity,” she said with a smile.

The nomination of Kindiki has undoubtedly brought a wave of joy and optimism to Tharaka Nithi, uniting the community in celebration and hope for a brighter future.

Local leaders also took the opportunity to congratulate him emphasizing the importance of supporting Kindiki in his new role.

They urged residents to remain united and continue working towards the betterment of Tharaka Nithi. The sense of community spirit and collective achievement was evident, as people from all walks of life joined in the celebrations.
