Tharaka Nithi County move to encourage Ajira digital jobs

Tharaka Nithi Governor’s wife Ms. Margaret Muthomi has launched the Ajira Digital Program aimed to boost youth empowerment through technology in the county.

The program seeks to encourage local companies and the public sector to create digital work and digitization projects that can be completed by digital workers.

Speaking at Kirumi ICT Centre in Chogoria constituency, Muthomi said that the program was meant to train and enlighten youths on the use of technology.

She added that the world is now digital, noting it was important to equip youth with technological skills to boost their talents to gain access to digital work.

Muthomi noted that the county government has partnered with key stakeholders to ensure the success of the training, adding that the programme will see rural youths learn how to make money online.

“Youths in cities like Nairobi are already a step ahead in making money online; we want our young people here in the rural to be equipped with the same skills,” she said

Muthomi said that the training is open to all youths in the county despite their educational background. “You don’t have to have a certain level of education to participate anyone can undertake the training,” she said

She further revealed that the training is free and encouraged all jobless youths to register to gain skills for online jobs.

Muthomi added that youths can start earning online during and after the training. “The training helps you to work and get income from the comfort of your home,” she said

The program will be a great boost to the economy and will boost the livelihood of young talents in the region.

It also offers mentorship programs for young people to help in the reduction of drug abuse and other harmful activities that the youth might engage in.

Some of the stakeholders include the National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), Ajira Digital, the National Chambers of Commerce, Eselle Group Foundation among others.
