Tension high in Samburu as bandits kill two leaving scores injured

Tension is still high in Pura Lakeek Sapuki in Loosuk Ward following the killing of two people with several others injured by suspected Pokot raiders from Tiaty constituency in neighbouring Baringo County.

Addressing elders’ and chiefs in Loosuk Trading Center, Samburu County Commissioner Mr John Cheruiyot called on residents who have been affected by the incident to be calm as the government continues flashing out bandits from their hideouts.

Mr Cheroiyot said that the government will not tolerate criminal gangs who kill innocent citizens while stealing livestock in the area then hiding themselves in Malaso caves.

The administrator urged criminals to surrender illegal firearms before the government undertakes a disarmament exercise in two weeks’ time.

He called on area residents to maintain peace as the security agents protect lives and property.

Leaders who spoke among them, Loosuk MCA Lkaunda Lenamparasio and Suguta Marmar MCA Koilek Leleruk, asked the government to take a swift action to curb such incidents before it goes out of control.

Accompanying the County Commissioner was the County Police Commander Mr Dicken Njogu.
