A Machakos court has released ten Machakos county enforcement officers accused of assaulting Kalama Member of the County Assembly (MCA)Boniface Maeke on a cash bail of Sh20,000 or a Sh100,000 bond with a surety of the same amount.
Senior Principal Magistrate James Omburah Tuesday directed the suspects to be released after the prosecution failed to charge them.
The ten were released by orders issued earlier on February 3 by Principal Magistrate Mary Otindo who directed the suspects be released on bail terms if the investigating team failed to take the suspects for plea taking.
The ten were Simon Musembi, Cliff Benson, Joshua Kitolo, Albanus Muli, James Muindi, Benson Kimeu, Musyoka Mutangili, Alex Wambua, Evans Muthenya and David Ouma
The prosecution told the court that investigations were still going on and pleaded for more.
They were granted 14 more days to conclude investigations and bring the suspects before the court on February 29 for plea-taking.
The court also directed the suspects to report to the investigating officer on Thursday at 9 am for further directives.
The suspects were also ordered to coordinate with the police officers until the investigations are completed.
