Police have apprehended the controversial televangelist Pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Prayer Centre over deaths at his church.
Coast Regional Commissioner Rhoda Onyancha confirmed the arrest in a press briefing in Mombasa.
“This morning we have arrested Pastor Ezekiel Ombok Odero of the New Prayer Centre and Church at Mavueni, Kilifi County over the death allegations that have been occurring at his premises and reported in various morgues or institutions,” said the Regional Commissioner.
The Regional Commissioner said they have taken action and closed the prayer centre.
“Whatever was in has been cleared out,” she said adding that updates will follow after investigations.
The pastor is currently being grilled at the Regional Police Headquarters in Mombasa.
