A 13-year-old boy was on Friday killed at Komugh village, Chesogon division of West Pokot County following allegations that the boy had stolen Sh430.
Confirming Kapenguria Police Commander Jackson Tumwet said the standard four pupil at Komugh primary was beaten to death by neighbours over allegations of stealing the money.
Tumwet said four neighbours stormed the home of the deceased and started to inquire about the money from the boy.
He said during the interrogation, the mother to the suspect left to do her normal chores when the group decided to discipline the suspect by caning, but the boy died in the process.
“Following the allegation of the theft of the money by a neighbour, four relatives stormed the home of the deceased claiming the boy had stolen the money. Then they started inquiring and resolved to discipline the boy by canning which resulted to death”, he said.
The commander said his officers visited the scene and found the suspects had disappeared, saying the police are investigating the issue.
“Police visited the scene and are still searching for the suspects and I appeal to the public to report any suspects spotted at the scene,” he added.
He said the body of the deceased that had visible injuries was moved to Kapenguria level five hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
