A teacher at Misikhu primary school in Webuye West constituency, Bungoma County is on the run after impregnating a 15-year-old class seven pupil.
Reports indicate that the teacher Daniel Mwibanda allegedly decided to flee after his efforts to have the minor carry out an abortion at a local clinic on December 24 failed.
The suspect met the victim at Luguru hospital as she went for routine checkup. “It is during this time that he convinced me to follow him so that we can meet his personal doctor for further medical checkups,” narrated the girl.
She said she resisted and then obliged and accompanied him to a nearby clinic where two tablets were inserted in her private parts and was also injected on her arm.
Few days later while at home, she started bleeding and was rushed to St Emmanuel hospital in Misikhu market where it was established she had aborted but developed severe complications afterwards.
The School Board of Management chairman Abel Busuru said they had been saddened by the issue adding. “We will use all means to ensure the culprit is brought to book; we can’t allow our teachers to prey on their pupils.”
The school head teacher Pamela Kituyi condemned the incident and challenged the government agencies to promptly arrest and prosecute the amorous teacher.
Contacted Webuye OCPD Zaccheaus Ng’eno said that neither the parents nor the school management had reported the matter to police.
“I have sent my officers to go and get clear facts before we deal with the suspect,” he said.
