Three people among them two students of Hopewell secondary school in Nakuru have been arrested over the brutal murder of a teacher at the school.
According to the director of the school Mr. Vitalis Kahenda, the incident occurred Thursday evening during a routine search of the students at the school that caters for both boarding and day scholars.
Kahenda said that the teacher, whose name has been withheld until his family is notified, stumbled upon the phone in the custody of one of the suspects who is a form four student.
The director said the problem started after the teacher confiscated the phone from the student as they are not allowed to hold phones within the school compound even if they are day scholars.
However, when the student left the school, he allegedly informed his neighbor about the incident and it is suspected that the two, alongside another student, confronted the teacher later in the night as he walked home.
The attackers then hit the teacher with a brunt object that broke his skull on impact. He was rushed to the Nakuru Level Five hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
The incident sent shock waves across the school community who described the 32 year old departed teacher as a diligent teacher who taught Mathematics and Physics.
Students wailed uncontrollably after the news was broken to them by the director who called for calm to allow police undertake investigations.
