Tana River Government to partner with the Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs to establish ICT parks in the county “Eco-Villages” clusters as part of Governor Dhadho Godhana urbanization program.
Governor Godhana revealed that they have realized that Fiber Optic Network coverage has improved in the County needed to establish the ICT parks in the clusters where youth can use the digital space to apply for jobs.
He added that their goal is to make Tana River a Smart City, in partnership with ICT Authority and the Ministry of ICT.
The Tana River County Government has allocated Sh6.5 million towards urbanization in their budget for 2021/2022 and Sh3.7 million for housing development.
The Governor noted that technicians from the Ministry of ICT traversed the County recently in an effort to improve connectivity and communication in areas like Oleserea, Aroresa and Titila.
The Governor was upbeat that the improvement in connectivity and the establishment of the ICT parks will hence service delivery.
“If we will have the clusters and ICT parks with a robust network it will be easier to integrate the whole County with electronic programs like e-health and e-education,’’
The “Eco-Villages’’ cluster program targets the development and settlement of people in urban centers and a higher ground away from flood prone areas. Handampia, Baomo, Mlima Abo, and Makere are some of the villages in the pilot phase of the program.
