Suspects in Chuka OCS murder arraigned in court

Four  suspects in the murder of Chuka Officer Commanding Station (OCS), Joseph Kinyua were today arraigned before a Runyenjes court but could not take plea as police are yet to conclude investigations.

The  Director of Criminal investigation through an affidavit presented in court sought for more days to allow completion of investigations on Joseph Muriithi, Andrew Gikinda, Obandia Kinyua and David Mugambi.

The  Embu Senior Principal Magistrate (SPM), Josphat Gichumi in response allowed the police to hold the suspects in custody for fourteen more days to conclude their investigations. The prosecutor, Ms. Eunice Musango either did not object to the DCI application.

The Court ordered the four suspects to be remanded at Runyenjes police station until May 20 when they will be arraigned in court for further direction from the court.

The  suspects  were arrested when the General Service Unit (GSU) raided Ugweri village in Runyenjes constituency after  Joseph Kinyua was hacked to death on Tuesday last week.

Kinyua was pursuing David Ikaaba, a suspect in the murder of a Kamaindi location Chief, Josphat Manjau when he met his death.

Ikaaba  also met his death when he was shot by the other police officers who had accompanied the slain OCS.

A  police informer who was directing the police was also attacked and he is still fighting for his life at Tenri hospital.
