A Kajiado Court has remanded a man accused of killing his wife for 21 days to enable the police to conclude investigations.
While appearing before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi, Corporal Stephen Kyalo asked the court to give them 21 more days so as to collect statements from the witnesses, have post mortem results and to get a psychiatrist report from Mathare Hospital so that he can forward the file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Rinard Kamerino Allan is accused of killing his wife Cynthia Chepsang Chepkuto on May 1, 2021 within Sina Estate in Kajiado town.
According to the police, the murder was reported by the neighbours who heard a commotion coming from the couple’s house and was later followed by a deafening silence.
The neighbours reported the matter to the village elder Richard Lemayian who found the house locked from the outside.
Upon opening the house, Cynthia’s body was found wrapped in bed sheets and was lying on the floor, next to it was a bottle allegedly used in killing her.
The court heard that after preliminary investigations, police found that Kamerino attempted to discard the body but failed.
He resorted to fleeing from the scene but was later apprehended by the police on Saturday May 1.
Neighbours report that the couple who have lived in the area for three years have always had quarrels which led to Chepsang fleeing from the matrimonial home only for Kamerino to win her back.
The Marriage however continued being rocky which led to Chesang’s death. The body was taken to Kajiado Referral Hospital.
The court granted the police their request and the suspect is being held at the Kajiado Police Station. The case will be heard on May 24, 2021.
