A bright future for a student to join Kisii University is hanging in a limbo after his family failed to raise fees to pursue education.
Joseph Oginga who hails from Nyakach sub county, Kisumu County had been selected to undertake a Degree in Purchase and Supply management at the institution.
Oginga who is now living in fear of missing the chance is appealing to well-wishers and political leaders including area MP Aduma Owuor and Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o to come to his rescue.
Oginga said his family efforts to raise money through fundraising failed after the exercise was given a wide berth by villagers and failed to raise part of shillings 34,000 needed to enroll for the first year semester course.
“My father organized for a mini- funds drive in our village but there was nobody in attendance therefore we failed to raise part of the needed amount,” he said pensively.
His father Simon Owiti who was once a carpenter, was involved in an accident in one of his workshops and cannot do any menial job to raise fees.
“My father cannot even fend for us. His hand was severely cut while operating a machine at the workshop sometimes back,” he narrated.
He added they are required to report for their studies between 2nd and 3rd September and they have not raised any amount.
He was also accompanied by his mother Salina Atieno Friday while appealing for help.
