State to start construction of a modern market in Kimutwa  

The government has commenced on the construction of a modern market in Kimutwa area, Machakos County with to create a conducive business environment for local farmers and traders.

The chairman, National Assembly Parliamentary Committee on Housing, Johana Ngeno while speaking during the groundbreaking at Kimutwa market, said the modern market is estimated to cost Sh50 million and will take three months to complete.

Ngeno, who was hosted by the area MP Caleb Mule, said that the Market will be fitted with modern facilities such WiFi to facilitate online trading, a lactation station for nursing mothers, adequate toilets, and daycare facilities for children to ensure parents concentrate on their work.

In company of other committee members, Ngeno added his committee is keen on implementation of various developments in the country.

He disclosed that they have also recommended for the construction of affordable hostels around learning institutions to host students on low rental rates to ease their burden on student accommodation.

He urged Machakos residents to avoid divisive politics and support the government of the day that has channeled initiated critical projects to stimulate development the county.

Machakos MP Caleb Mule on his part said the market is among 5 others that are to be constructed in the county which will improve the living standards of the local farmers and give create numerous self-employment opportunities.

Mule affirmed his support for the government and noted that he plans to continue lobbying for more development projects can benefit Machakos residents.

Other legislators present during the occasion were Nairobi Women Representative, Esther Passaris, Buuri MP, Hon Rindikir Mugambi, Kalama MCA Make Musyimi and Mua ward MCA Francis Ngunga.
