Embu leaders have expressed hopes that the construction of a stadium at Njukiri ASK Showground by the Government will open up network connectivity in Embu West.
The leaders who spoke when a high Government delegation led by Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Interior and National Administration Dr. Raymond Omollo toured Njukiri ASK Showground where the Government is set to construct a state-of-the-art stadium, said that the area has had poor network connectivity for a very long time.
Embu County Women Representative Pamela Njoki said that the stadium construction is timely with residents of Njukiri poised to reap big from the construction of the sporting facility.
“Njukiri is a small village that has been plagued by poor network connectivity for a very long time but with the construction of the sporting facility, this area will be put in the history of the world,” she said.
She expressed her hopes that the Principal Secretary State Department for Information Communications Technology (ICT) and Digital Economy Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui will make sure that the first thing to be fixed before the construction of the stadium commences is the internet network connectivity in the area.
The PS in the Ministry of Interior and National Administration Dr. Omollo was accompanied by other Principal Secretaries for Defence, Roads, ICT, Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Environment, Culture and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire among other leaders from the County.
The 20,000-capacity stadium at Njukiri ASK Showground construction is set to commence early February and to be completed in the next four months.
Area Member of Parliament Gitonga Mukunji called on the youths from Embu County to stay sober and acquire certificates of good conduct and take advantage of the 5,000 job opportunities that will be created during the construction of the stadium.
Mukunji also said the construction of the stadium at Njukiri ASK Showground will open up the area for investment and called on investors in the county to seize the opportunity and invest at Njukiri.
Among other facilities that are set for renovations include Moi Stadium in Embu and the face-lift of Embu County Airstrip which all the construction works will be running concurrently with the construction of the stadium at Njukiri ASK Showground.
