St. Anne’s Lioki High School Excels with Outstanding Exam Results

Parents and teachers of St. Anne’s Lioki High School gathered, today, at the school grounds in Kiambu Sub- County to celebrate the impressive performance in the 2024 KCSE exams.

Out of the 246 students who sat for the examinations two got A Plain 11 A minuses 32 B+, 40B plain,60 B- 41C+ translating into 75.61 percent university transition.

Mary Warigia cannot stop smiling, after her daughter, Jasmine Wanjiru, scooped a mean score of A of 84 points in the just announced Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and also leading in her school.

Warigia is among many parents whose daughter completed her studies at St Annes Lioki girls in Kiambu and who joined others to celebrate the performance of the girls.

Speaking to KNA at the school, Warigia described her daughters as a humble child who kept on improving in her studies.

“She knew how to plan herself and juggle in other duties too and also remaining steadfast and focused throughout her four-year study,” she said.

Another Parent, Margaret Wangari, said she was also happy and could not hold back her tears, as her daughter also managed to get an “A”.

“I remembered this group of students are the same ones who entered form one with the challenge of Covid, they also experienced floods and even riots last year and they have come out shining. We are happy personally as a mother who even struggled with fees, I can only thank God,” she said.

Jasmine Wanjiru, the top student told KNA that she was grateful to not only the Principal and the whole St. Annes fraternity, but also to her parents who struggled to ensure that she did not lack in her study period.

“My mum supported me all through. I never expected to get this grade, but it is by God’s power that I have got it.  Now I want to pursue medicine and specialize in neurosurgeon,” she said.

Wanjiru said her secret to passing was about determination, believing in herself and not dwelling on negative vibes around the people.

“I would love to tell all Kenyans, including the parents who have children in high school to support them, trust in them and despite others not getting the grade they wanted, know they need to support them in whatever they want to pursue,” Wanjiru said.

Chief Principal St. Annes Lioki, Edith Gitonga, was happy and celebrated the news of the outcome by saying that the students were guided by the schools’ core value, which is spirituality, discipline and integrity.’

“The class of last year did quite well. We are happy with them. One of our girls got an A of 84 points, and we have not gotten this mark in the recent past and therefore we are happy,” she said.

Ms Gitonga noted that the said students were the same ones who stayed home for over 8 months before reporting to form one due to COVID and amid all those challenges, including others lacking fees and others getting sick, they have been able to come out victorious.

In comparison to the 2023 year, Gitonga said that last year’s students performed better and wished the well in their future endeavors “These are my girls and I know we have mentored them well. I know they are going to fit very well out there because they are hardworking and focused,” she said.

The Principal also hoped that they will be able to pursue the courses they have qualified for at the University, as this was just a stepping stone for them to go higher and higher.

The Extra County Girls` school has managed to attain a mean grade of 7.724 (B-).
