Nyeri National Polytechnic students display a smart car invented by the students during the first day of the institution’s first international conference that started Wednesday at the polytechnic’s grounds.
The car is the brain child of Anastasia Wangui Maina (Left) and Maurice Ndung’u (second Left) from the Automobile Engineering Department. The car is environmentally friendly and uses solar power to charge the battery, a mobile application to ignite and can sense an obstacle on the way prompting it to reduce speed to avoid a fatal accident. The students appealed to the government to support their innovation to enable them realize a dream of seeing their invention on the road. The theme of the conference is “Attaining Sustainable Growth through Science, Research, Technology and Innovation.”
