Six people, known to have been in contact with a truck driver of Sukari Industry Limited in Ndhiwa Sub County who also interacted with deceased James Oyugi, a victim of Coronavirus in Siaya County, have been quarantined.
The six were being tracked by county health officials since Sunday evening after it emerged that they interacted with the driver who is under quarantine in an isolation centre within Homa-Bay County.
The truck driver was picked on Sunday evening at Opapo weighbridge while transporting sugarcane to Sukari Industry and was taken to the isolation centre as he awaits medical tests results.
Homa Bay County Commissioner Yatich Kipkemei said that the six are the only people who interacted with the truck driver in the area.
Kipkemei added that the last person was traced Tuesday morning and taken into the quarantine facility adding that the county health officials are yet to take their samples for a test to determine whether they are coronavirus positive or negative.
He stated that the county coronavius coordination committee is on high alert to ensure that any suspected cases are taken to the isolation centres for testing to CURB the spread of the virus in the county.
