Six people have died, while 30 others are nursing serious injuries after they were involved in an accident along the Moita Nkararo road in Trans Mara West Sub-county of Narok.
The morning accident occurred after a trailer transporting sugarcane to Mara Sugar Company collided with a Mitsubishi Canter that was carrying tens of people who were going to work on the sugar farms.
Confirming the incident, the Narok County Police Commander, Kizito Motoro, said the accident occurred when the trailer ferrying sugarcane cutters to Enemasi area had brake failure, hiting the lorry from behind.
Due to the impact, Motoro said five people died on the spot, while another died when undergoing treatment at Kilgoris Level Four Hospital.
Those that were injured are receiving treatment at Kilgoris Level Four Hospital, while the dead were taken to the same morgue for preservation.
The police boss said the tractor and the canter lorry were towed to Nkararo Police Post awaiting inspection.
