Six Kitui Mourners Quarantine After Funeral

Six mourners will spend 14 days in quarantine in Kitui’s Covid-19 isolation centre at Kauwi Level 4 Hospital in Kitui West Sub-County after attending a funeral.

The mourners, four adults and two minors, who had travelled from Malindi in Kilifi County had attended their kin’s burial in Kauwi Sub-Location on Friday.
Kauwi location Chief Thomas Munyao, who presided over the burial, confirmed that the six had a permit to attend the funeral from Malindi but have been put on quarantine so they can be tested for Coronavirus before being allowed to interact with people.

“We conducted the burial ceremony while observing the Ministry of Health set guidelines. We have decided to quarantine the six for prevention purposes and testing,” said Munyao on Sunday in Kauwi.

The chief also urged the public to inform the authorities or medical teams in the county of anyone from another county who has come to Kitui County before they get into contact with the people for their own safety.

Last week, a nurse from Mwingi Level 4 hospital tested positive for Covid-19 after he traveled from Mombasa where he visited his girlfriend who works in a quarantine facility in the coastal county.
