Grief engulfed Murang’a GK Prisons fraternity after the body of one of their officers was found in her house.
The 24-year old female officer, Pauline Wangari was last seen on Monday, when she was on duty, only for her body to be found on Wednesday in her rental house at Kiharu estate in Murang’a town.
Colleagues who started searching for her after she failed to report to work found her body with stab wounds on her bed.
The Murang’a County Police Commander (CPC), Josphat Kinyua said when police officers visited her house located few metres from the prison, they found the door opened and the body lying on bed.
The body had two stab wounds at the back, another one on the shoulders and also a head injury inflicted with a blunt object.
“We believe the wardress was killed on Monday night as the body had started to decompose,” Kinyua told KNA today.
The Officer in charge of Murang’a Prison, Peter Kambo observed that the deceased had worked in the prison for two and half years having been posted after training.
He said the death was a big shock to them, adding that the matter is being handled by criminal investigation officers to establish the truth.
“She was young and committed to her duties. We are following due process to inform her family members even as
investigations continue,” he added.
“The incident is shocking and as residents we fear for our lives. We request police to beef up security within Kiharu and other parts of Murang’a town,” said one of the residents who sought anonymity.
