Shabana Football Club has sacked their Head Coach Sammy Okoth following three successive defeats in the Kenya Premier League, the latest being a 2-1 defeat to Bandari FC.
The coach, who was appointed in February 2022, led the newly promoted Shabana FC back to the top league during this 2023/2024 season after 17 years.
In a joint statement, Shabana management said they had mutually agreed to part ways with the coach and goalkeeper trainer, Collins Oduor.
“As a club, we deeply value and appreciate the significant contributions and unwavering dedication they have exhibited throughout their tenure with our organization. We extend our t best wishes for their future endeavors,” read part of the statement.
The management noted they had appointed the assistant coach, Oscar Kambona as the interim head coach as the club actively engages in the search for a suitable replacement.
Shabana FC has recorded a single win, four draws, and six losses in the Premier League matches this season and will face Nzoia Sugar at Homabay Stadium in the next match this coming Sunday.
This follows a public outcry from Shabana fans who expressed their dissatisfaction with the team’s recent performances adding they use a lot of resources to travel and support the team in vain.
