Sh350,000 gift for frontline health workers 

The Rotary Club of Mombasa on its mission to appreciate the hospital staff who continue to selflessly serve the citizens of Mombasa County during the difficult times of the Covid – 19 pandemic has given them gift hampers worth Sh350,000.

Speaking at the Muslim Education and Welfare Association (MEWA) Hospital Mombasa, the president of the Rotary Club of Mombasa Abdulhamid Aboo said in recognition of the personal sacrifices, the health workers received substantial dry food gift hampers as tokens of appreciation and personalized Poetic Certificates of Appreciation.

The president added that the cost of each recognition was Sh350,000 bringing the total so far to Sh1.4 million since initiation of the initiative.

Aboo said the Saturday event in partnership with Habib Bank AG Zurich was fourth in a series of Health Care Front-Liners Recognition by the Rotary Club of Mombasa having already previously partnered with Yusufali Charitable Trust, Mamujee Foundation and the Birds of Paradise Foundation.

He called on well-wishers to join the Club saying it was open to more corporate partnerships and personal donations.

The event was graced by Customer Relations Manager Doris Maingi and Mr. Sibtain Raza (Manager) on behalf of Habib Bank AG Zurich, CEO Mr. Salim Galgan, Acting Administrator Mr. Mohamed Hassan and Matron- Head of Nursing Marium Abdalla, on behalf of MEWA Hospital, and Dr. Nandu Acharya, who is the Club Chair for the Front-liner Recognition Project.

Other dignitaries at the event included Mohamed Hersi, Abdulghafur Pasta and Bhupinder Singh from the organizing committee on behalf of the Rotary Club of Mombasa among many other Rotarians and guests.
