Governor Fernandes Barasa said bodaboda riders and other road users previously faced challenges and delays in transportation as the road was impassable.

He said the county government was losing over Sh.7million in maintaining the road network from Bushiangala to Lusiola.

The Governor noted that the remaining part is the construction of a bridge at Bushiangala to connect people from Idakho Central and Idakho south to Chavakali.

“We are going to allocate funds for the construction of the bridge this year,” he said.

During the occasion, the Governor while addressing residents of the area promised to work on a Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) Bill to address their challenges as they remain critical in provision of primary healthcare in the villages.

He also said the county government will ensure all CHVs are enrolled with the National Health Insurance Fund and improve on their monthly stipend.

“The CHVs play a key role in primary healthcare in the villages. Due to that recognition, we are going to ensure that your welfare is improved in the next financial year,” he said.
