Sh30.4 million worth of drugs delivered to Nyamira health centers

Nyamira County has disbursed essential drugs and commodities worth Sh30,442,701 to 116 health facilities in a bid to provide quality health services to the people.

The flagging off was presided over by Mr. Erastus Orina, County Attorney, on behalf of Governor Amos Nyaribo, who said he is committed to ensuring that the people of Nyamira receive top-notch medical services as long as he remains the County Boss.

Orina emphasised that the county is committed to improving the delivery of healthcare services, complete with the provision of essential drugs in all the 116 health facilities.

“Our Governor is committed to ensuring that Nyamira County achieves Universal Health Care coverage. He has ensured that the 116 health facilities are empaneled under the Social Health Authority (SHA). He urges all residents within Nyamira to ensure that they have been registered so that they reap the full benefits of the new health insurance scheme,” Orina.

He further assured that the Governor had confirmed the health facilities will be fully operational during this festive season so that they provide health care services and other emergency services which may arise to ensure people’s health needs are adequately catered for.

Mr. Orina clarified that the county had initially ordered drugs and other commodities worth 37 million from KEMSA but received drugs worth Sh30 million. He explained that the remaining drugs worth Sh7 million will be supplied later.

He urged the health workers to use the drugs prudently for residents of Nyamira to enjoy quality and efficient health care services in all the facilities.

The County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Health Dr. Donald Mogoi affirmed that they are working round the clock to boost stocking levels in health facilities. He hinted that the county is intending to make another order of Sh20 million to ensure some of the commodities not available in KEMSA are sourced and supplied as requested.

“We will ensure accountability for these commodities in the entire supply chain right from delivery from KEMSA to the intended end user, who are our patients. I appeal to our health workers and the people of Nyamira to judiciously use what we have received. We shall make another order to KEMSA mid next quarter so that we don’t experience stockouts of very essential drugs in our health facilities,” Dr. Mogoi assured.
