The government has commissioned a Sh 2.8 billion construction works of a road network covering various sections of Kirinyaga East Sub-County.
The PIAI – Njukiini – Mbiri- Kiamutugu- Mucagara- Karumandi –Kagongo – KTI- Ithareini- Kiangombe – Kianguenyi road was commissioned Friday at Mbiri Market.
The PS for Infrastructure Professor Mwangi Maringa and other senior government officials launched the project.
Out of the Sh 2.8 billion, Sh 800 million will benefit the local community through the supply of raw materials and provision of labour.
Maringa said the contractor had been well briefed and agreed to fully comply with the 800 million requirement.
A Commissioner for the Public Service Commission of Kenya Andrew Muriuki Ndambiri flagged off the launch of the 60 kilometer road on behalf of Maringa while the Kirinyaga County Commissioner Moses Ivuto was on hand to ensure a favorable environment prevailed.
