Sh1M ICT hub to boost online access for Hulugho Youth

An ICT resource centre has been set up in Hulugho Sub-County of Garissa County to enable youth from the area to access online services with ease.

With the establishment of the resource centre, the youth from the border sub-county will be able to make use of e-government services such as KRA Pin registration and also in applying for online jobs.

Addressing local residents, Hulugho Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Mr. Adow Omar said Sh1 million was spent to set up the resource.

Talking to the KNA crew on the phone, Mr. Adow said the hub comprises ample facilities, adding it has 5G WiFi installed and an instructor deployed to man the centre as well as train the youth in ICT since the centre can accommodate about 10 learners at a go.

Mr. Adow said he has engaged a trainer using his funds and a watchman to guard the facility, which is in Hulugho Sub-County, Ijara Constituency.

He said he took the initiative to ensure the youth are occupied and safeguard them from the risk of falling prey to drugs and illegal activities.

The resource centre is the first such public facility established in the entire Garissa County.

The hub was officially opened by MCA Mr. Adow Omar, accompanied by Hulugho OCPD Mr. Joseph Munene, chiefs and their assistants, departmental heads, and local elders.
