The national government is spending Sh.232million towards the construction of a three storey building for the school of humanities at Pwani University.
EPCO Construction Company which has been awarded the tender to undertake the project said the project which started last year will be completed by July, 2020, two months earlier than the time line given in the contract.
The company’s contractor Paul Njenga said they have been awarded the first certificate and Sh.72 million paid to the company and hoped that the remaining balance of Sh.160 million will be paid upon the completion of the project.
Kilifi County Development Implementation Coordination Committee (CDICC) members who toured the project expressed satisfaction at the work in progress and commended the company for its assurance that the work will be completed before time.
The building will include 150 offices for lecturers along with six lecture halls according to the University’s vice chancellor Professor Mohammed Rajab.
He revealed that there are many other projects underway among them a 2000 bed modern hospital and a mortuary to be funded by the World Bank after completion of negotiations with the government.
