Senior Government officers in Turkana County on Friday held a meeting aimed at undertaking a geotechnical and topographic survey and providing information for proposed affordable housing projects and market sites in the county.
The relevant ministries and departments will provide the information accordingly for purposes of design and implementation.
The projects have been identified for development within Turkana County as a Presidential directive.
They include Lodwar municipal market, Kalakol fish market, Kakuma Municipal market, Lowerangak fish market.
Others to be constructed are Lokorio police housing, Lokori Affordable housing Project, Turkwel Economic stimulus Project, Loima, Naduat and Kapedo Affordable housing Projects.
Turkana University College, Lodwar KMTC, Lodwar TVC, and Lorugum TVC have also been earmarked as part of beneficiaries of the projects.
New sub county of Lokichogio AHP will also benefit in addition to its former headquarters Kakuma at a site to be identified.
Edwin Chepsiror the Head of Compliance- Rift Valley Region urged the officers to move with speed and undertake the said duty.
Turkana County Commissioner Julius Kavita said it was prudent that the membership of the committee works in three teams for fast delivery of the task.
Another meeting has been planned next week to fast track the process according to County Director of Housing, Brian Kangogo.
