Busia Governor Paul Otuoma has barred County Executive Committee Members, Chief Officers and Directors from travelling outside the County for the next 20 days starting today.
Dr Otuoma said that the move will ensure that the officers are readily available to respond to any audit queries and provide necessary documentation when required by a team of auditors who are presently on a working tour in the County.
He explained that the exercise will improve compliance and reduce cases of audit queries at the Senate.
The governor further tasked departmental heads to be accountable and give credible reports on audit and financial processes.
Otuoma at the same time expressed his commitment to financial accountability and proper use of resources to ensure that the local residents get value for money.
The audit exercise will run for 15 working days beginning from Tuesday September 3 to September 23, 2024.
