Security officers and residents of Hamisi Sub County have been asked to be patriotic in beefing up security in the area.
Speaking on Wednesday during a public baraza in Gambogi in Hamisi Sub County, Vihiga County commissioner Felix Watakila called on security officers and residents to be patriotic to the country as security begins with each person.
Watakila added that it was the responsibility of every resident to ensure there is security instead of relying on the government to maintain law and order.
He urged boda boda operators to be vigilant and to weed out operators who were engaging in criminal activities therby spoiling the name of the sector.
He called on the operators to be morally upright especially following the death of their colleague regretting that they always behave in a barbaric manner after such a tragedy causing chaos on the roads and in the burial ceremony.
“Dead bodies need to be handled with care and respect until they are laid to rest. They should not be mishandled,” said Watakila.
He called on the police to be more vigilant and get information from residents which should be handled with confidence to help them arrest criminals.
He further cautioned criminal gangs that were springing up in Vihiga County that their days are numbered and if found, they would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
He called on the police and national government administrative officers to deal with the crackdown on illicit brew and the issue of Lotto machine licenses which contribute to insecurity in the area.
He cautioned residents against engaging in incest and defilement which have become rampant in the county and warned residents against engaging in kangaroo courts.
