A contingent of security personnel in Garissa County on Tuesday morning shot and killed two attackers and managed to repel an attempted destruction of a Safaricom mast at Daadab sub county.
During the fierce battle, four children who were outside a nearby Administration Police Camp were hit and killed by stray bullets.
According to the Daadab Sub-county Deputy County Commissioner, Kibet Bowen, an AK 47 assault Rifle and two Improvised Explosive Devises (IEDs) were recovered.
The Administrator said the several security officers are currently in hot pursuit of the suspected attackers, some of whom sustained serious injuries during the fierce fire exchange away from the camp.
Meanwhile, the Garissa Commissioner (CC), Meru Mwangi has confirmed that out the four dead children, three of them are brothers, adding that the two attackers are believed to members of the Al Shabaab Militia.
Mwangi said at Saretho centre, 25km from Dadaab three people were injured, including one police officer.
He confirmed that part the Safaricom mast was partially destroyed but is working.
