Security heightened in Igembe South ahead of festive season

The Igembe South Deputy County Commissioner has assured the residents of heightened security during this festive season, noting that there is a tendency for some individuals to engage in theft and burglary during this period, targeting businesses.

Speaking to KNA, the Igembe South Deputy County Commissioner Noah Tonui said that his security team is prepared to deal with such acts and ensures that the residents enjoy a peaceful festive season.

”Our security team, including police, will be on high alert to ensure safety and order across the whole region,” he said.

The DCC reiterated their commitment to ensuring that residents as well as visitors will enjoy to their fullest a safe festive season.

Tonui noted that the security officers will be deployed in key areas to enhance patrols and respond quickly to any incidents.

He also called upon the local authorities, including chiefs, sub-chiefs, and the Nyumba Kumi initiative, to be on their toes and report any suspicious activities promptly.

Tonui further urged the community members to remain vigilant and report any criminal activities immediately to ensure that criminals have no room to operate.

”Everyone has a critical role to play in fostering a secure and harmonious environment by being vigilant and reporting any suspicious activities as well as celebrating responsibly,” the DCC emphasised.

In addition, the sub-county boss urged parents to be mindful of their spending, reminding them of the financial responsibilities awaiting them in January.

”As you celebrate, remember that January will come with its own demands; children will need school fees and other essential responsibilities,” he said.

The DCC equally thanked the council of elders for promoting education in the area by advising every member of the community to take their children to school as well as helping the security machinery in smoking out the few elements indulging in Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in terming the move as retrogressive and unlawful.

This was due to the recent incident at the Ugoti location in Igembe South, where ten girls who had been circumcised were apprehended along with their parents and the circumcisers. They are currently in Maua police custody, awaiting arraignment in court.
