Eastern Regional Commissioner Evans Achoki has assured candidates sitting KCSE and KCPE examinations of ample security during the examinations period.
Achoki said enough security personnel had been deployed ahead of the commencement of the national examinations where KCPE is set to begin on March 7 while the first sit-in KCSE paper will be done on March 14.
“We have laid down elaborate security measures to ensure the exams are done in a safe environment for both candidates and examination managers,” Achoki said on Tuesday after a meeting with security and education heads in the region.
He reported that extra forces had been deployed in insecurity prone areas of Isiolo and Marsabit to ensure no candidate misses to sit his/her examination over insecurity.
“Come rain come sunshine, we shall administer the examinations as scheduled,” the RC assured, adding that plans had also been made to ensure candidates in the drought-hit areas of the region are provided with free meals during the examination period.
The administrator at the same time warned those bent on compromising the integrity of examinations through cheating that they will be firmly dealt with within the law.
Regional Director of Education Dr William Sugut reported that 196, 434 and 134, 023 candidates are set to sit the KCPE and KCSE examinations respectively in the region.
