Police in Gucha south have been allowed to hold a class prefect at St. Joseph Nyabigena boys’ high school for five days to enable them complete investigations into the death of a form three student early this week.
The suspect, was arraigned before Ogembo Resident Magistrate Gloria Barasa, but did not take plea after police requested for more days to complete investigations.
Through an affidavit sworn by the investigating officer, Corporal Ouya Leveren, police said the accused is suspected to have participated in one way or another in the murder of Kevin Gesaini Omwando.
The magistrate granted the application and directed that the suspect be remanded at Nyamarambe police station. The case will be mentioned on 5th March when she will issue further orders.
Initial report made to the police by the school administration had indicated that the deceased collapsed Tuesday morning and was rushed to Tabaka Mission hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
However, after security personnel camped in the school and interrogated students, it was revealed that Kevin had been hit by the prefect before he collapsed and later died and consequently the suspect was apprehended Wednesday.
