School destroyed by rainfall

Mukangu Primary School in Matete Sub County has been destroyed by heavy downpour affecting the learning of 248 pupils.

Alice Khaemba, a senior teacher at the school said five mud-walled classes were completely destroyed by the heavy rainfall that was accompanied by windstorm.
She said the affected classrooms are used by grade one to grade five pupils.
The school management has decided that as they wait for aid from the government and well-wishers, the pupils will be taught under trees since the remaining school term time is short.
This comes a few days after 20 homes were destroyed by heavy downpour and strong windstorm in Lwandeti location in the same Sub County.
Farmers are also counting loses after crops in their farms were completely destroyed and dozens of livestock killed by the hailstones.
