Samburu County has formed the county development implementation coordination committee which will oversee and coordinate national government programmes and projects with the county commissioner as the chairperson.
Addressing the departmental of national government heads in his boardroom the Samburu County Commissioner Mr. John Korir asked all heads of department in the county to work together so that they will serve the people of Samburu County as expected through the Presidential Circular Number 1 of January 2019.
Mr. Korir further said that the committee is to monitor, verify and evaluate the progress of national government programmes and projects within the county and also to identify and suggest solutions for bottlenecks that hinder the implementation of national government development projects. The membership of the committee includes the county information officer, all county departmental directors with national government projects.
The county commissioner said that the above committees also manage relationships between the all Ministries, Departments and Agencies and Semi-Autonomous
Government Agencies who operate within the county and advises the national government implementation technical committee on identified projects within the county to regional committee.
The committee will coordinate public participation and awareness activities within the national government through barazas, and nyumba kumi and prepare bi-weekly progress reports to the regional development implementation coordination committee on national government projects within the county.
The team accused the projects implementers of creating white elephants adding that it will not allow public funds to be misused by cowboy constructors who cannot complete them in time.
