Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Kisii County branch Chairman Samwel Omwando has lashed out at a section of the party officials for allegedly playing divisive politics.
He castigated the party officials during a press briefing at Nyanchwa market for planning to chastise him for reportedly meeting the Deputy President the previous week without the blessing of the party hierarchy.
Omwando insisted that the meeting was perpetrated by the County’s executive to divert attention from the cores issues affecting the residents after the local government failed to deliver and was ever rated poorly in latest media reports.
He dismissed aspersions to the effect that he was headed to the Tangatanga movement but urged residents to be tolerant with Dr. William Ruto whom he said could not be isolated as he had a family and friends.
He however clarified that he was free to join any political side if he so wished saying those fighting him had lost support of common mwananchi.
Omwando cited various reasons for meeting the DP including how to address poverty levels in the county, government efforts to improve infrastructure and plans to improve the area economy among others.
Omwando was reacting to a meeting held on Saturday led by County Assembly Majority leader Timothy Ogega where his visit to DP was discussed before it was disrupted by a group of youth allied to him.
The meeting which was held in Kisii town ended in disarray after the youth disagreed with those criticizing the ODM chair.
