Ronald Ngala Utalii College to be Completed Next year

Kilifi County Implementation, Coordination and Management Committee (CICMC) has assured the public that the long-waited Ronald Ngala Utalii College will be completed by next year.

The project, which was implemented in 2010 was set to be completed by 2019. However, the project has been facing stunted construction and even stalled at some point due to logistical challenges.

During an inspection tour of the project at Kilifi South Friday, Kilifi North Deputy County Commissioner Samuel Mutisya told the media that the construction is 78% done and will be completed in July 2024.

Mutisya further promised that once completed, the college will start operating immediately and begin admission of students the same year.

“Come August next year, they will be able to get in the first batch of students and they have a capacity of around 3,000 students and that is a very good programme,” he stated.

The chairman was optimistic that the college would be able to provide job opportunities for the locals, besides offering training to thousands of students.

Accompanied by Coast Regional Director of Government Delivery Service (GDS) Sherry Litunya, they expressed their contentment with the progress of the projects, saying that they are moving according to plan.

“Our role as GDS is to support the implementation of national government projects across the country. So far we are happy with the progress that we have seen; the projects are moving according to plan,” Litunya said.

Litunya stated that despite many challenges they experience in the development of the projects, they will be able to deliver.

“There are a few challenges here and there but with the help of the committee we will be able to unlock those challenges.

We continue to support government projects because, at the end of the day, these projects are meant to elevate the livelihoods of the people living in the coastal region,” she said.

Ronald Ngala Utalii College is a public learning institution project being constructed in Kilifi County but it has taken more than 10 years to complete. The college is expected to admit over 3,000 students every year upon completion.
