Residents urged to take advantage of mobile registration

The  Busia County Commissioner (CC), Jacob Narengo has urged the local residents to take advantage of the ongoing RRI Mobile registration of persons in preparation for the second phase of Huduma Namba.

Speaking to KNA in his office on Monday, Narengo pointed out that a number of the residents were not enumerated in the first phase due to lack of Identity cards.

“Our chiefs have carried out publicity through public barazas but it is very surprising that the turnout is still low,” he said, adding that registration of births was also ongoing.

He further stated that 7,083 residents had registered against the expected cumulative of 33,948 as at September 21 leaving a deficit of 26,865.

“First time applications are what people are taking advantage of unlike duplicates which need payment of Sh. 100,” he said.

Narengo reiterated that the last Huduma Namba exercise was affected because a number of the local residents did not have the important documents.

The mobile RRI registration of persons is being conducted nationally in preparation for the second phase of Huduma Namba registration.

The one month exercise is scheduled to end on September 30.
