Residents urged to plant trees

The government through Kenya Forest Services (KFS) has urged residents in Ijara Sub County to plant more trees during the rainy season.
Distributing 1280 seedlings to Masalani residents, Ijara conservator of forests Hassan Sheikh called on the residents to plant the seedlings in order to increase the forest coverage in Ijara Sub County especially during this rainy season.
Mr Hassan Sheikh said the trees will not only be a wind breaker during strong winds but also help in conservation of the environment and urged members of the public to take advantage of the seedlings the government has provided to increase the forest cover.
He said another 1300 tree seedlings given to residents of Ijara town.
