Residents of Nkuene,South Imenti constituency have decried poor roads in the region leading to huge losses of their farm produce.
According to the residents, the roads connecting Nkuene and Kathera regions have been neglected hence transporting their vegetables and fruits to the market has become very difficult due to impassable roads.
Margaret Mworia noted that the road has several pot holes hence many accidents occur as motorist try to evade the same.
Mworia pointed out that despite the county allocating some funds for grading the road, it is yet to be done.
“We have lost several people along this road as motorists avoid the deep gullies that have developed due to negligence and non-maintenance,” she said.
She said the locals have petitioned the area member of County Assembly Martin Koome to repair the road before March rains begin.
“We shall hold demonstrations till the MCA grades this road with the funds he has been allocated,” she said.
John Kimaita pointed out that farmers are now selling their vegetables, milk and other foodstuffs at a throw away price because of the poor infrastructure.
