Reprieve for locals as water shortage challenge is addressed

It was a reprieve for 3000 residents of Kihingo Ward, Njoro sub-county, after the county government equipped three major boreholes in the area.

The locals, through the Department of Water, received waterlines for civil works for Jirani Kioo, Stoo Mbili, and Ndeffo-Ruthiru area water projects that will help address the water shortage issues.

Speaking during the event, the area MCA, Simon Kamau, urged the locals to utilize the commodity well once it’s operational for purposes of regular supply in the social amenities they have, such as schools and hospitals, among others.

“You have grappled with water scarcity challenges here for a long time, and therefore, once the boreholes are functional, use them well for a continuous supply of this important commodity,” advised Kamau.

According to Kamau, by doing this, it would not only allow them to have an ample supply of water but also give them time to attend to other issues to make a living for their families.

“This provides an opportunity to economically empower the community and positively help transform the lives of the locals,” said the MCA.

He warned against those out to vandalize the equipment meant for the civil works, urging the locals to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities while warning that those found culpable would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
