Renovation of Embu Stadium Almost Complete

Embu Stadium that has been under renovation for the last three months at a cost of Sh300 million in readiness to host this year’s Madaraka Day Celebrations is almost complete.

About 80 percent of work on the 8, 700-seat capacity stadium is complete according to the contractor, Modern Precast K Ltd.

The work is being done under the supervision of Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

Project Manager, Sagar Saghani, said the work was on schedule towards the delivery of the stadium by May 20 when Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki is expected to make an assessment tour.

“The remaining bits we are working on now include final touches on the VIP dais, roofing and painting of public terraces and working on the running track that we are sure will be complete before the due delivery date,” said Saghani.

The County Government has expressed satisfaction with both the quality and pace of work ahead of the national celebrations.

“We will be fully ready for Madaraka Day and apart from the infrastructure work going on here, we are also preparing our hotel industry to accommodate the visitors,” said Governor Cecily Mbarire.

Lands and Urban Development CECM, Raymond Kinya, said the contractor had lived up to their expectation in terms of timing and maintaining the standards despite the challenge of rainfall.
