Two Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) officials who were attacked and injured by Al-Shabaab militants in Ijara in Garissa County over the weekend are being treated at Malindi Tawfiq hospital.
Confirming the incident, Coast region KRCS coordinator,Mr. Hassan Musa said, those admitted are a driver and a woman who works with KRCS as a volunteer who suffered bullet wounds in the stomach. The humanitarian service provider is catering for the victim’s needs.
Speaking to the press at his hospital bed Monday, the driver said, their vehicle was traveling from Masalani town to Ijara when they were attacked by two armed groups from different directions, saying one group was attacking from right side while the other group from the left side.
