Reach us in our mosques to understand us Better- County Imam to leaders

Close to 7000 Muslims spread across Nandi County have received foodstuffs worth thousands of shillings to mark celebration of the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The National Government through the County Women Representative delivered 200 bags rice and 150 of 50 kg to be distributed to 30 mosque communities spread across the county as they come to the end of their fasting period.

“We have 200 bags of rice and 150 bags of beans given by the government according to the requisition done by Muslim leadership here,” Cynthia Muge Nandi Women Representative said during the distribution exercise at County Headquarters Ground.

She asked the leadership to ensure foodstuffs reach also Muslim communities in prisons, colleges and universities within the county.

Muge used the occasion to praise the community across the country for demonstrating the real purpose of unity and togetherness in their daily activities.

Cynthia further urged organised women groups to seek funds from her office in order to improve their livelihoods.

The event was attended by local leaders and various Muslim leaders representing different mosques.

County Imam Abubakar Sadala was appreciative to the government for the support. “I thank the government and the women representative for recognizing the Muslim community; even as we end our fasting, our brethren will have something to be happy about,” he said.

He also urged the local leaders to continue doing more to help the Muslim community.

“I would like to ask our local leaders to frequent their visits to our mosques as the women representative has done in the past so that they get the challenges our members face and help find solutions,” he explained.

Nandi County Commissioner, Caroline Nzwili who was also present asked the Muslim brethren to also remember the government in their prayers.

“We urge our Muslim brothers that they may also pray for our government and the leadership of our President so that he may continue to do the work he was elected to do of providing direction to this country,” she stated.
