The Retirement Benefits Authority (RBA) in partnership with the Huduma Kenya Secretariat has launched the RBA @ Huduma Centre mobile clinic activation to promote service delivery to the Authority’s customers by providing efficient and accessible services at their convenience.
Speaking during the activation of the RBA services at Eldoret Huduma Centre, the Authority’s Chief Manager, Human Capital Development and Administration Gordon Bulinda noted that the initiative was not only a realization of the commitment to improve the Authority’s services as envisioned in the RBA’s strategic plan 2019-2024 but also comes as an answer to the incessant quest for decentralization of Authority’s services by stakeholders particularly members of the retirement benefit schemes and pensioners.
“The launch of RBA @ Huduma Centre Mobile Clinic is a fulfilment of the greater constitutional duty of extending government services to the counties and citizens at the grassroots,” said Bulinda.
The Chief Manager pointed out that the initiative was initially aimed at offering the authority services at regional huduma centres starting with Mombasa and Eldoret in the financial year 2021/2022 and is set to expand its reach to the 8 regional huduma centres by the end of the current strategic planning period in June 2024.
The services the mobile clinic offers include creating awareness on RBA dispute resolution processes, technical assistance on RBA’s ICT tools like online filling of statutory returns and use of whistle blower portal, registration and licencing, advisory services on filing and updating beneficiary nomination forms among others.
On her part RBA Assistant Director Christine Onyango reiterated the Authority’s commitment of bringing services closer to wananchi by onboarding its services at Huduma Centres.
She commended Huduma Kenya for its collaboration with the RBA that has enabled the Authority to decentralize its services.
The RBA being a State Corporation established by an Act of Parliament No. 3 of 1997, is mandated to regulate and supervise the establishment and management of retirement benefits schemes.
The Authority which currently celebrates over 22 years of service delivery to Kenyans has experienced tremendous growth in assets amounting to over Sh1.5 trillion as at June 2022 from a paltry Sh44.5 billion in 2000.
Additionally, it has experienced an increase in coverage to over 25 per cent of the labour force and an active membership of about 3.5 million.
According to the RBA strategic plan 2019-2024, the authority is looking forward to growing assets to Sh2.4 trillion and attaining a coverage of up to 30 per cent by 2024.
