Residents of Karabach Sub-Location in Rachuonyo South Sub-County can now afford to smile after the new Rapogi Health Centre opened its gates to the public.
The facility was officially opened by the County Executive Member for Health, Prof Richard Muga.
Muga assured the locals that the facility is well equipped with modern machines and served by qualified health workers who will provide quality services to them.
Vincent Otieno, a former Assistant Chief, thanked the County Government for responding to their pleas and constructing for them the health facility.
“I really want to thank the government for building this health facility. We have never had a hospital in our area since Independence,” said Otieno.
The former administrator said that the locals have been traveling far to seek treatment making them incur costs on travel and time taken.
“It was very painful to witness some of my village members die while making long journeys to seek treatment because the hospitals were far,” Otieno said.
Grace Akinyi, a villager, said women were now relieved because they will no longer depend on traditional birth attendants but are now guaranteed of quality services from qualified midwives in the facility.
“We are grateful because we will now be handled by qualified medics instead of quacks,” said Akinyi.
Member of County Assembly for West Kasipul Ward Mola Ochola also thanked Prof Muga for assisting him in bringing his dream of building the hospital to a reality.
