Rain showers are expected to intensify over the coming weekend and towards the end of the forecast period.
Magdalene Gateri, the Kiambu Director of Meteorological Services, while giving the weekly forecast said that moderate to heavy rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms will be expected over several places of the County.
Gateri said that cloudy conditions accompanied by rain showers breaking through to sunny intervals are expected over most parts of the county.
“Cloudiness at times accompanied by rains is expected in the morning, giving way to sunny intervals. Afternoon and night showers are likely to occur over few places occasionally spreading to several places,” she said.
Gateri added that places like Limuru East, Central Bibirioni, some parts of Githunguri and Lari will experience moderate to heavy showers on Saturday night while some parts of Kikuyu, Nachu and Sigona will experience moderate to heavy showers in the afternoon.
“On Monday 14 of November some parts of Kiambu like township, Ting’ang’a, Riabai, Ndumberi, Juja Thika. Ruiru will experience moderate to heavy showers on Sunday afternoon,” she stated.
Gateri said that on Wednesday, the County will experience no rainfall, farmers have been urged to carry out their farm activities like weeding and spraying their plants. Gateri has also urged farmers to continue planting as the seasonal rains continue.
She said that the maximum temperature that will be experienced in Kiambu County is 26°C while the minimum temperature is 12°C.
According to the Kenya Meteorological Department the climate outlook for November, Lake Victoria Basin, Highlands West of the Rift Valley, Central and South Rift Valley, Highlands East of the Rift valley, South Eastern Low lands, North Western, North Eastern and Coastal strip are likely to experience occasional rainfall though the cumulative amounts are likely to be below average.
According to the Met Department, isolated episodes of heavy rains are still likely to occur in several parts of the Country during the month of November 2022.
